Newbattle Parish Church – The “Old Kirk” and the Kirkbank Centre

The church has a distinctive historical heritage. The current building was opened in 1727. However, the congregation can trace its origins back to 1140 and the Cistercian Monastery established by King David I of Scotland. Newbattle Church was built in the early 18th century, replacing the old Medieval Church that had fallen into a poor state of repair. Many of the stones from the old church were used in the rebuilding, with some of the memorials and pulpit also being transferred.

In the early 2000s an additional building was added to this site – the Kirkbank Centre – a multipurpose meeting room complete with kitchen. To book the Kirkbank, click here.
